Hello guitar players, my name is Gaku Murata.
About myself:
-B.M. in Guitar Performance ESP Musical Academy (in Tokyo) 1996
-B.M. in Performance and Songwriting Berklee College of Music 2004
-Berklee College of Music Achievement Scholarship recipient 2001~2004
-Winner of Berklee Songwriting Achievement Award 2003
-Currently working as staff accompanist for the vocal department at Berklee
-Leader of "Gaku Murata Quartet" and gigging around Boston metro area
-Experienced instructor with a love for teaching
What I teach:
-Basic guitar technique
-Various styles of music (jazz, rock/pop, blues, funk)
-Soloing
-Improvisation (scales, modes)
-Songwriting (basic harmony, arrangement)
-Reading (lead sheet, big band chart, single/double lines)
-Jazz harmony (advanced theory)
-All levels and ages welcome from beginner to advanced, for fun, casual playing to formal-style teaching.
